Courses open!

Good morning to everyone, after 4 days closed, finally the rain has given us a truce and we can open the 3 courses.

Although the ground is still quite wet, we are able to reopen the courses again. Please drive your buggies thru the car path and be careful with the course.

Thank you all for your patience and enjoy golf!

Ángel Hidalgo receives an invitation to play the Spanish Open

Probably this has been the most important call of his career. The RFEG has decided to invite 2 amateur Andalusian players and one of them is him (Víctor Pastor, the other). He tells us that "playing with the best players is a dream come true and I want to take this tournament seriously and, who knows, maybe we'll scare the big guys. Being my first Spanish Open, I will always remember that week for sure".

Recall that the 2018 Spanish Open is played this year from 12th to 15th April at the Centro Nacional de Golf (Madrid) and although neither Sergio García nor Miguel Ángel Jiménez seems to be able to attend the event, Jon Rahm (current nº2 of the world) confirmed the other day that he will do everything possible to not miss the Open.

For Real Golf Club Guadalmina is a real pride. You deserve it, Angel.

Álvaro Mueller-Baumgart is still growing. Puntuable National Winner at Hacienda Riquelme

The good news doesn’t stop. Álvaro Mueller-Baugmart Lucena is beginning to show why it is one of the greatest sub-16 jewels of the national scene. It's nothing new, a "mini-star" has not just been born, but every year it goes up one step. This time it was in Hacienda Riquelme and in one of the great youth tournaments and against which a priori was almost intractable, the player from Castellón José Luis Ballester.

So, thanks to rounds of 67 (-5) and 74 (+2), Álvaro reach the second title of the season. His colleagues and also members of RCGG Alejandro James Chacon (T-15) and Nico Barclay (T-44) also had a great performance. Our girls, Alejandra Sanchez de la Fuente and Rebecca Fernandez finished T-32 and T-63.

In the other hand, one of our youngest members, Jaime Macias, was runner-up in the Pequecircuito of Zone C at Benalmadena Golf.

Congrats young boys!

Awesome performance by the Ladies of Guadalmina at San Roque

3 of the 4 teams that represent the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina took the podium last Thursday in the Andalucian Interclubs Women Championship played at San Roque Club.

In handicap category, the "B" team of RCGG, formed by Rosa Sánchez, Anne Langgard and Ana García won by 5 strokes, while the team formed by Anne Okeeffe, Lina López and Inés García (team "D") finished third (tied in strokes with the second). But the thing did not end here, because in Scratch, Christina Birke, Joyce Heyster de Witt and Rosaleen Cunningham (team "A") were runners-up behind Real Club de Campo de Málaga. Our team "B" completed the podium and "C" also had a meritorious performance in 4th place.

What a way to represent us! Our most sincere congratulations.

Ángel Hidalgo will represent Europe in The Bonallack Trophy

Ángel Hidalgo will represent Europe in The Bonallack Trophy

Our member Ángel Hidalgo was selected by the EGA to represent the European Team in The Bonallack Trophy which will take place from the 8-10 of March in Doha. The Bonallack Trophy is an amateur golf competition on the model of the Ryder Cup which opposes every two years a European team and a team representing Asia/Pacific. Doha Club Club (design of Peter Harradine) will be the venue, a tremendous course wich host the 2018 Qatar Master.

It is all a pride for us that a player from our School represents the old continent. Enjoy the experience, Angel.

Juan Carlos Osorio wins the Gecko Pro Tour at La Cala

Our member Juan Carlos Osorio, thanks to rounds of 69 and 72, won the 4th event of the year of the famous winter tour in Europe (The Gecko Pro Tour), on the Asia course at La Cala Golf.

Remember that Juan Carlos started this 2018 with good performances at El Parador (T-17), Lauro Golf (T-18) and La Quinta (T-10). So, with the victory of last week, confirms the good form.

This week the Gecko Pro Tour visits La Quinta again and the news that we receive cannot be better: Juan Carlos (68 today and 2 shots from the leader) will fight tomorrow for the 2nd  victory of the season.

Congrats!

Alvaro Mueller-Baumgart won the Barbesula Trophhe

Lukas Pany won the Finish Open in Lauro, Ángel Hidalgo the Andalusian Cup and now Álvaro Mueller-Baumgart wins the Barbésula Trophy in La Cañada.

In windy conditions, the young player of Guadalmina did not lose his calm despite being behind of his rivals much of the final round. But it ended with a partial of PAR from 13 to 18, enough to win by 1 shot.

What a beginning of 2018 for Guadalmina!

Good performances also of Alex Field (4th), Alejandro Chacón (8th) and Rebeca Fernández (7th).

The Andalusian Cup returns to stay at home. Hidalgo champion!

Angel did not give options at any time. 4th round absolutely perfect (free of bogeys) and victory with 5 shots of advantage.

It was the tournament that he had left to win. Absolute Spain Cup, Puerta de Hierro Cup, Spain U-18 International, Europe Team Cup, Comunitat Valenciana Cup and, now, in the club where it all started, has won the prestigious Andalusian Cup.

The players highlighted the good conditions of the course despite the rain of the first days.

Congratulations champion.

What will be next?

We are where we wanted. Angel Hidalgo leads the Andalusian Cup after 3rd round.

3 rounds under par (69-70-71) for our young member and solo leader. Hidalgo has a clear road map and everything indicates that he will be fighting for victory until the last hole. Today has not been an easy day, the wind at times blew very happily and sometimes gusty, so it made difficult the shot choices of the players.

His most immediate pursuer is the player from Madrid Eugenio López-Chacarra (1 shot behind Angel). Lukas Pany (68, best card of the day) and Calvin John Greschner managed to pass the cut as well.

C’mon Angel!
